Dr. Hussain Niyaaz, presented his letter of Credence to President of the Republic of India Ram Nath Kovind, as the sixth resident High Commissioner of the Republic of Maldives to the Republic of India. Given the present circumstances of the current pandemic, the ceremony was held virtually.
The President of India congratulated High Commissioner Dr. Hussain Niyaaz on the commencement of his term and conveyed greetings and good wishes to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and the people of the Republic of Maldives.
High Commissioner Dr Niyaaz expressed sincere appreciation on behalf of the Government and the people of the Republic of Maldives for the continued assistance from India towards the socio-economic development of the Maldives, and in particular, for the solidarity shown during the pandemic. The High Commissioner remarked that these instances of cooperation define the close bond between the two countries as we celebrate the 55th anniversary to the formal establishment of the diplomatic ties between the Maldives and India.
The High Commissioner was accompanied by First Secretary Mr Ahmed Suzil and Defence Advisor Col. Ahmed Thohir.
